Who are the Crocin in Star Wars? Biddy Blas’ Species Explained

After a viral moment for Star Wars Galactic Racer and a strong launch, a new hero rises. The latest “Glup Shitto” to captivate the masses is none other than a Crocin named Biddy Blas. In mesmerizing Huttese, this little guy’s confidence and gravitas have infected every social media platform with videos of players’ first encounters with this fellow podracer. Yelling “Scrib Doon!” to compel the player character to “write down” their name so they don’t forget, it’s safe to say we never will. Part of Biddy Blas’s allure is figuring out exactly what species this guy is. If you aren’t in the trenches of Star Wars lore, let’s go over what we know about the Crocin, the Biddy Blas species you can’t stop seeing on your TikTok and IG Reels feeds.

What Species is Biddy Blas from Star Wars Galactic Racer?

The clip above, which you have likely seen by now, sparked this Crocin renaissance. It’s not unlikely this might be your first time encountering a creature like Biddy Blas, so let’s talk about his species.

Biddy Blas is a Crocin, a somewhat underutilized sentient reptilian species. First appearing in Solo: A Star Wars Story, a Crocin named Karjj shows up in Lando Calrissian and Han Solo’s first sabacc game. It’s easy to see why we didn’t attempt to hang Karjj’s name in the rafters, or at least carve out a space for him at the George Lucas Museum.  We also see Crocin show up in a few other places. For example, the Walt Disney World-exclusive augmented reality game Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters depicts a Crocin character. You also hear about a Crocin named Scarspike in The High Republic: The Rising Storm.

Beyond these appearances, it’s hard to pin down much about the Crocin as a species. They live on Croce, their home planet, in cavern domiciles near water. They don’t take well to sunlight, since they live mostly in caverns, which is why our new pal Biddy Blas wears a helmet with goggles. This, and their clear inspiration from crocodiles in both name and look, is all we have to go on.

No amount of toxic online discourse would make this seem true, but it is. Star Wars is supposed to be fun. The creative character designs and good-versus-evil storylines aren’t meant to bait rage. Nevertheless, it seems to be how many love to consume the franchise. Something that brings us all together, however, is a good species of little weirdos. From Babu Frik in Rise of Skywalker to Jar Jar Binks in Phantom Menace, little weirdos can mean big things for their species.

Maybe more Crocin show up in future Star Wars projects. Maybe we get a Black Series Biddy Blas figure one day. It’s special when a seemingly throwaway character can break out like this. Game Producer Craig Derrick noticed on X and simply explained, “The algorithm continues to properly prioritize Mister Biddy Blas.” With much of Star Wars‘ history and success rooted in merchandising, I promise you this. If there’s money to be made, or something to sell, by putting our little Crocin podracer on merch, it’s already in development somewhere at Disney.

Spoiler notice, but Britton Thomas on YouTube compiled all Biddy Blas scenes into the video below.

Star Wars Galactic Racer is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
